Primary School and Middle School

Primary and middle school children will explore the treasure of the kings, discovering jewellery and valuable objects that reveal stories of power and tradition, through educational and fun workshops that awaken interest in cultural heritage.

Primary School - Discovering Royalty


Primary School students explore the symbols of royal power, from crowns and sceptres to coins and coats of arms. Through an educational game visit, they learn about the importance of the monarchy, the role of kings and queens and the values that marked each reign.

Skills developed: 
  • Historical understanding - Understanding the symbols of royal power and the importance of the monarchy in history.
  • Critical thinking - Reflecting on the role of kings and queens and how royal values have influenced society.
  • Teamwork - Developing collaboration and group work by taking part in the educational game.

Primary School - My Kingdom for a day


Workshop visit
The Museum holds valuable treasures that belonged to the queens and kings of Portuguese history. Among the most striking objects, such as crowns, jewellery, sceptres and cloaks, we'll explore the symbols that marked the Kingdom of Portugal and, inspired by them, create the symbol of our own ‘Kingdom’!

Skills developed: 
  • Historical understanding - Learning about the symbols of royalty and their importance in Portugal's history.
  • Creativity and expression - Developing creativity when creating the symbol of one's own ‘Kingdom’.
  • Group work - Encouraging collaboration and the sharing of ideas while exploring and creating the ‘Kingdom’.

Middle School: Royal Treasures and Missions


In this cycle, students learn more about the Portuguese monarchy and the impact of maritime expansion on the enrichment of the Royal Treasury. In a participatory visit, they analyse unique pieces and take part in challenges where they assume the role of court explorers and diplomats.

Skills developed: 
  • Historical and cultural understanding - Deepening knowledge of the Portuguese monarchy and the impact of maritime expansion on the Royal Treasury.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving - Develop analytical skills by taking part in challenges that simulate royal court missions.
  • Communication skills - Encouraging oral expression and argumentation by playing the roles of explorers and diplomats in participatory activities.
